A farcical tale of hope and resilience, Beards by HK Ní Shioradáin, with book by Ultan Pringle, is a rollicking new musical comedy taking us all the way back to the Middle Ages, which ran from the 29th October to 6th November 2024 in the New Theatre.
To avoid being burnt at the stake for being gay, medieval siblings Daryl and Erika marry each other’s lovers. When one of the lesbians falls pregnant via immaculate conception, both couples must battle their own conflicting feelings as they soon find out that they are about to co-parent the second coming of Christ.
“It’s an absolute breath of fresh air and a hoot from start to finish”
“Cracking songs, stirring performances and some first rate singing…impressive levels of musical sophistication… hugely entertaining and irreverent”
